  • Profile and Credentials

Leala began her yoga practice twelve years ago in New York City. While attending her first yoga class , she felt touched by a lovely sense of connectedness. Within a year, she had moved to the remote side of Mauii where she met David Williams and began a three month intensive study of Ashtanga Yoga. She went on to develop a steady home practice, living in community on Mauii and traveling, she taught whomever wanted to learn, including Sequoia Indians in the Amazon tributaries of Equador.

In 1994, she attended her first silent ten day Vipassana retreat, which deeply rekindled her sense of connection to the source. She continued to travel, attending meditation courses and at times living and working at retreat centers, practicing yoga all the while.

In 1997 she met her husband, and in 1999 gave birth to their vivacious daughter, Anika.

In 2000, Leala completed her Ashtanga teachers training course with reknowned instructor David Swenson and has recently completed her level three training through Trinity Yoga. With Trinity she has explored many styles of yoga, branching out from her traditional Ashtanga training.

The benefits of yoga are precious and far-reaching. I feel that I am still learning and relearning the first step... to be profoundly gentle inside and to live and practice from that gentle open space.

Principles of yogic philosophy and life style are woven through the classes, connecting students to a larger view of the unbroken lineage of yoga. These classes are inspired by the philosophy and teaching of Yogi Vishvketu and the world conscious yoga family.

  • Intro to Akhanda Yoga inspires and educates students on an experiential level as they delve into the heart of yoga within the framework of a sequential 7 week course. A different theme will be explored each week. This course is recommended for beginners through intermediate level students wishing to deepen their practice.

  • Akhanda Level 1/2 inspires intermediate students to journey further into their exploration of the mind -body connection through more complex balancing, strengthening and inverted postures as well as additional pranayama techniques. • Yoga for Runners: This workshop will teach runners how Yoga aids in the relief of tight and sore muscles, as well as injuries, brought on by repetitive movements.
